Seems like 3D technology is expanding and breaks the barriers as the U.S. Government announced they changed the $100 bill. 3D elements are implemented to make the note very difficult to counterfeit. There is a 3D security ribbon containing a double image of the value (100) and bells appearing when you tilt the bill.

Here are some images:

The authorities tried to create such a bill starting about 10 years ago to make it impossible to copy and very easy to detect it’s authenticity. “As with previous US currency redesigns, this note incorporates the best technology available to ensure we’re staying ahead of counterfeiters,” said US Treasury Secretary, Tim Geithner.

See the official video released to present the new improvements and let me know what you think about this. Seems like the note will be available starting next February.
