Last night, Apple presented the first iPad commercial during the Oscars. Steve Jobs was also there at the 82nd edition of the Academy Awards. The ad shows the variety of functions available on the iPad: pictures, ebooks, email, web browsing, videos, calendar are all there in a slide show style presentation.

The multi-touch option is one of the key features. Also another feature showcased is the iBooks application which allows any user to read books on a Apple portable device.

The ad is focused on the interface and re confirms the 3rd of April as the official launch date. The WiFi version will be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB ranging from $499 to $699 and the WiFi + 3G models will be launched in late April.

In Europe the iPad will be available for now in Spain, France, Italy and the UK. Australia and Japan are yet on schedule.
